How the calculation works
Text block = page count ÷ 2 × sheet caliper. With bulk: caliper (mm) = grammage × bulk ÷ 1000. Softcover spine = block + agreed allowance.
Flat softcover: width = 2 × trim width + spine + 2 × bleed; height = trim height + 2 × bleed. The planning model for hardcover adds two board thicknesses to the spine, two joints and turn-ins to the width, and two turn-ins to the height.
